Located at SOCOTEC central facilities in Coventry, the successful apprentices will be working with leading experts within the state-of-the-art laboratory to develop their skills and knowledge within the material testing sector. Perfect for anyone with an interest in science looking for a non-traditional lab-based role. The role As an Apprentice Laboratory Technician, you’ll be undertaking the testing and analysis of construction materials using the UKAS standard for testing and calibration laboratories. These tests will deliver highest quality testing services, aiding quality assurance, compliance and control whilst providing vital data to support cost-effective decision making. Some of the core activities of the role include: Having knowledge of good laboratory practice Physical testing of construction materials i.e. Compaction, Density & Strength Preparation of materials for laboratory testing (i.e. breaking down 20kg samples to pass a 20mm sieve.) Completion of test sheets, including all calculations Production of reports in line with QA systems Undertake tasks in line with Company QHSE protocol About you: We are looking for someone to develop in to the role by undertaking an agreed structured training program of study in house, so that in time you will develop an understanding and knowledge of the implementation of various methods to examine materials,.
