What Exergy3 does:Exergy3 is a brand new clean tech spinout from the University of Edinburgh. We’ve spent the last 10 years developing a novel form of ultra-high temperature energy storage technology, which we now use to decarbonise small to mid-scale industrial processes, district heating systems and combined heat and power.We’re at a pivotal stage in our evolution, delivering our first pilot project, growing our team, and commercialising our technology.What we want to achieve:Our vision can be summarised in one sentence: Radical, quick and affordable decarbonisation for every industrial process.More than 50% of global CO2 emissions are caused by processes that so far have proven difficult, time-consuming and expensive to decarbonise. Our radical solution is more cost-effective, faster and easier to implement than the alternatives.The role:We’re looking for a highly creative, organised and self-motivated professional to join our small, agile, Edinburgh-based team to take on this multifaceted, exciting role that combines both administrative and managerial aspects.Line managed by and working closely with the CEO, this role will have four aspects to it.1) The management of current grants and the application for others.2) Secondly, supporting the team with raising private investment.3) Sharpening Exergy3’s external communication profile and,4) the administration of the business.What you will do:1. Grant funding managementFor the grants that we have already been awarded, the role includes the following activities.Ø Work closely with our team members, project manager and project partners to document the project's progress.Ø Ensure that the project spending is allocated to the correct milestones and activities.Ø Prepare invoices in cooperation with our accountants.Ø Prepare regular progress reports alongside our team.Ø Ensure consistent compliance with any grant conditions in collaboration with the management team.Ø Liaise with the grant provider and maintain the grant documentation.For future grants, you will be responsible for:Ø Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of the funding landscape and identifying funding opportunities.Ø Familiarise yourself with the requirements and identify the grants best suited to Exergy3’s needs.Ø Leading the preparation of the grant applications in collaboration with Exergy3’s team and external stakeholders.2. Fundraising supportExergy3 intends to raise substantial private investment over the coming years. As part of the role, you will be closely working with CEO and CFO to:Ø Prepare and update the general documentation (Business plan, pitch deck and financial projections).Ø Support the preparation of responses to specific questions raised by potential investors.Ø Develop and prepare the documents required by investors for due diligence.Ø Support the deal closing with Exergy3’s management and our legal representatives.3. Sharpening Exergy3’s communication profileExergy3 is brand new and consequently not very well known. As part of the role, you will work closely with the management team and our engineers to:Ø Develop brochures for different stakeholders (Customers, Government, and potential partners).Ø Create and implement a social media strategy to present our solution to as broad a base of stakeholders as possible.Ø Develop and implement knowledge dissemination events (podcasts, exhibitions, town hall meetings etc.) to enhance the broader public's understanding of Exergy3’s decarbonisation potential.4. Supporting the administration of the businessWorking closely with the CEO you will also be involved in the business administration. This includes:Ø Preparing for board meetings and recording themØ Preparing strategic papers for review by board members or external stakeholdersØ Responding to stakeholder questions and correspondenceØ Support budgeting and bookkeeping proceduresØ Coordinate workplace activities and compliance to company policiesThe key skills, experience and know-how that you should bring:The ideal person fitting this role should be or have:Very creative, organised, and self-motivatedA proven track record of delivering work independently (we are sector agnostic, which could be academic, third-sector, arts, or civil service …)A proven track record in applying for and/or administrating grant fundingExcellent communication skills (verbal, written and visual)A completed university degree3+ years of relevant professional experienceWhat it will be like to work with us:You will join a small, agile team working together on delivering a pilot project and commercialising a revolutionary technology.
