Our Corporate Data Compliance Team design, protect and govern our data, thus ensuring that we keep our data healthy and our business watertight. We work to deliver our commitments with an agile approach. We currently have vacancies for several roles across our wider CDC teams for Data Designers. What you will be doing: The Corporate Data and Compliance team is focused on helping the business overcome its data and information challenges, making sure data quality is maintained, ensuring that privacy is protected and that the data and information is accessible to those who need it. This is a priority for us as we need to ensure that the business can make the right decisions based on the corporate data available, to deliver our ambitions and to maintain the high standard of service our customers expect. It also supports our employees by making their lives easier by ensuring they have the right data and information to do their roles. We also need to understand more about the data journey and how it flows through the business which supports our teams to make critical business improvements. As a Data Designer, you will be applying data and information design competencies that increase the value data and information will bring to Scottish Water. You will be viewed as an expert on all things data and information. Your Role Responsibilities may include: Deliver and assure data architecture, data design and data modelling to embed quality by design Have ownership of data management products (data catalogues, entity relationship diagrams, integration catalogues) and relevant data models Oversee data model evolution so data structures are fit for purpose for Scottish Water's growing data demands Lead on initiatives within Scottish Water to identify best data practice, share learning and define/agree consistent data model standards Understand, assess, and mitigate relevant risk; ensuring a joined up and aligned enterprise data approach across business functions and delivery partners that is focussed on cross organisational data and information value Be an expert for enterprise data solutions & business data rules Learn and understand the organisations current and future data needs to identify, plan & execute the best methods to optimise data and information across the enterprise Identify data and information quality improvement opportunities Use of data management tools Partner with business stakeholders to ensure data and information is trusted by undertaking quality improvement, automation, fixing and preventing issues What you’ll need: Essential Skills and Knowledge Thorough understanding of data architecture and enterprise data modelling Proven familiarity with data management products Experience of enterprise data design across a wide range of systems Working knowledge of data modelling design principles Skills in project management methodologies covering waterfall and agile Desirable Skills and Knowledge Awareness of the data models that underpin at least one of the following: Oracle ERP, Oracle HCM/ELM, Microsoft Dynamics, Ellipse, ESRI/ArcGIS, Oracle Primavera, Salesforce, Workday Understanding of how to integrate data in cloud platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Workday etc Knowledge of enterprise integration technologies such as Dell Boomi, Azure Data Factory etc Knowledge of TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) Experience of policy, process, or procedure development Knowledge of BIM (Building information modelling) Knowledge of GIS (Geospatial Information Systems) Knowledge on the Legal Frameworks surrounding data and information in particular GDPR and PRSA Looking out for you While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. The not-so-small print The salary range for these positions is £35,384- £47,924 depending on experience.
