Job description
The Health and Safety Service has responsibility for the provision of competent advice and support service to all Directorates across the Royal Borough of Greenwich, including schools that subscribe to our health and safety services, in meeting their statutory and legislative duties and responsibilities concerning all aspects of health and safety relating to employees and others that may be affected by the activities of the Council. You will be the lead point of contact for health and safety support to the council’s directorates and schools, as well as leading the development and improvement of safety management systems, and arrangements for specific topics. You will be required to manage a team of up to six persons and provide competent health and safety guidance, advice, and support, to all directorates across the council. Undertaking assurance activities to ensure teams across the council are working in line with legislative requirements, policies, and procedures. Have the ability and innovation to utilise your ideas, skills, and experience on how to do things efficiently and effectively, as part of our service commitment to continuous improvement, you’ll have the chance to work alongside the Health and Safety manager and the current team who are passionate about what they do and promote a safer environment for all our employees and others. You will be involved in the development of Health and safety management system policies, procedures Toolbox talks etc oversee or undertake inspections and audits, investigate accidents, and make appropriate recommendations About you As part of the Council’s commitment to providing high-quality and efficient services to the council’s directorates and schools, you will need to be an experienced competent health and safety professional with excellent knowledge and practical experience of H&S legislation and issues within a Corporate and school environment.
