An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Urology Outpatient team (Chestnut Unit). We are looking to recruit two additional HCA’s to our expanding team. You will need to be a caring and compassionate individual who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge in caring for urology patients in a busy department. You will need to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide a high standard of care for our patients. If you feel you can contribute to the quality of patient care delivery in our out-patient setting then we would be very keen to hear from you. The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of working in a highly demanding environment. We offer a supportive induction period where you will work with wider members of the team to understand the role of the HCA in urology outpatients, and to learn the skills you’ll need for the role. The urology service line are moving their outpatient service to a purpose built unit. This will increase the clinic capacity and improve the patient experience. To assist in the delivery of care planned and assessed by the urology team within the urology outpatient department. Provide and deliver a high standard of nursing care; recognising and meeting the specific needs of patients With direct supervision, to manage own clinical workload within the given competencies of the post To monitor/observe the recovery of patients following specific non-invasive/invasive investigations, reporting any abnormality to the appropriate person To assist all medical staff in carrying out non-invasive/invasive investigations To recognise the importance of health education and teaching of patients and carers and to inform senior staff where this might be required To document and sign for all observations and care given with counter signature from a registered nurse To maintain his/her own professional development, attending courses/further training to enhance and optimise his/her role within the clinical area To participate in the training and development of Health Care Assistants, Student Nurses and locum staff in the unit and to act as a mentor to new Health Care Assistants Assisting other clinical areas within the Trust if the clinical situation or staffing levels demand To promote and safeguard the wellbeing of patients, their families and colleagues To respect confidential information, in line with Trust policy Data Protection legislation, obtained in the course of work and not disclose this information To be familiar with and adhere to Trust and Departmental policies and procedures and mindful of responsibilities to self, colleagues and patients Report untoward incidents such as complaints, clinical emergencies and injury to self or staff To assist in the maintenance of stock levels, bringing to the attention of the appropriate individual the need to reorder stock items
