You’ll be helping us grow whilst we help you grow.This vibrant, close-cultured company, headquartered in Spinningfields, Manchester, has recently branched into new offices in Austin, USA.We have an exciting opportunity available to join the UK team as a Junior Web Archivist.We have acquired over 400 clients over 12 months, thanks to our internally developed, cloud-native archive technology, demonstrating our anticipated growth for the future.Our technology allows organizations to create permanent, unalterable records of all online communications. This initially met preservation needs for UK companies such as the BBC and The National Archives, as well as the US Library of Congress. However, over the last 18 months we have grown fast in the US market as our technology is transferable to the financial sector, to fulfil compliance obligations.Digital communications include a user’s email, social media channels, instant messaging platforms, mobile device, and their website. MirrorWeb offers a unified platform to capture, store, replay and monitor this activity.We work with many organizations in the public and private sector. Our clients range from National Archives to financial institutions to broadcast media. We provide high-traffic web interfaces, faceted full text search, big data indexing and analytics in the cloud, and multi-platform archiving capability. Our clients use our services for compliance or risk management, brand protection, and maintenance of historic records.We have archived the last 22years of the UK digital history as one of our recent projects.We are looking for enthusiastic, eager-to-learn, professional individuals, willing to hit the ground running and contribute to the continual growth of MirrorWeb, proving why our dedicated team are the reason for us being so brilliant!The role:As a Junior Web Archivist you’ll be a member of our platform's quality assurance team. Here, you will work closely alongside both engineers and client managers to ensure that we deliver a high fidelity web archive across the breadth of our client base. In addition to quality assurance, your role will require troubleshooting and problem resolution, which may include inspecting web links or HTML code. You don't need to be a technical expert; just have an eye for detail and an analytical and investigative mindset.MirrorWeb is unique in that we offer introductory training and support to assist with adapting to our self-developed technology, along with ongoing support to ensure you are comfortable and growing in your role.What you'll do:Configure and launch web crawls of client websites according to both the client's and our own internal technical requirements.Manage our web archive estate, in partnership with key clients, by reviewing the fidelity of completed web crawls, both through visual assessments of the web archive and through analysis of generated metadata.In-depth analysis and identification of issues within a web archive, employing technical web-crawler solutions for simple issues, and writing up detailed reports for more complex issues to facilitate the implementation of engineering solutions.Work in collaboration with our partners in the web-archiving community, such as the National Archives, to best ensure the fidelity of web crawls.Assist engineering or client management team members with analysis of websites and assessments of potential web archiving challenges.What you'll need:To be an analytical and methodical problem solver, driven to find the root cause and understand why issues occur.Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills.To be a team player, with an emphasis on communication and collaborative work.Efficient communication, organizational skills and time management.A desire to learn and grow in your job role, and to demonstrate proactiveness in your work.What will help:An interest or basic proficiency in HTML or CSS.An interest or basic proficiency in JavaScript or Python.Experience working with digital collections/archives.Experience using Zendesk and/or JIRA.Experience working with web crawlers.What you'll get:Salary £22,000-£25,000 dependent on skills & experience.Direct and ongoing training.Flexible hours and working opportunities.25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays and your birthday off.Company Pension Scheme.MacBook Pro and relevant Apple Accessories.Annual pay reviews.Exposure to a Manchester scale-up with opportunity for progression.A fantastic culture!Job Type: Full-timeSalary: £22,000.00-£25,000.00 per yearBenefits:Company pensionReferral programmeSick paySchedule:Monday to FridayWork Location: In personReference ID: Junior Web ArchivistJobs Advertisement
