Job description
Our busy Bistro is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to assist our team with the preparation of food and dishes. You will be responsible for cleaning, washing, controlling inventory, organising the stockroom and fridges, and emptying rubbish bins. The ideal individual for the Kitchen Assistant role will have the ability to stand for long shifts, work as part of a team, and precisely follow health and hygiene practises. You will need excellent communication skills, a passion for exceeding customer expectations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the chefPreparing ingredients, including washing and choppingClean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areasHelp with inventory management and restocking suppliesAssist in receiving and storing food deliveriesFollow proper food handling and safety proceduresWashing utensils, pots, pans, and chopping boardsSweeping, mopping, and emptying rubbish binsPerform other duties as assignedRequirements:Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is requiredKnowledge of basic food preparation techniques and use of kitchen equipmentSound knowledge of food safety regulationsPhysically fit and able to stand for entire shiftsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong attention to detail and cleanlinessExcellent teamwork and communication skillsFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededNote: This position may involve standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy objects.
