The Kent and Medway Medical School is looking for a Finance Manager, with a recognised accountancy qualification, to join the team to lead financial performance management. Drawing upon your experience of managing complex funding and financial regimes, you will act as the main point of contact for central finance managers across both the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University. As a member of the KMMS senior management team, you’ll support the School’s financial planning process and continued development. You’ll agree and manage budgets and provide strategic advice to the Dean, Head of Operations and budget holders on performance against budgets and other financial targets. As well as collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across both universities and within NHS organisations, you will also provide leadership for the KMMS Finance team. This will encompass day-to-day management of school finances in order to support school activities. As Finance Manager, you will get involved in: providing key management information to aid decision-making by the KMMS Senior Leadership Team and senior finance leaders at both universities, including forecasting, scenario planning and analysis of the financial performance of all areas within the Medical School. helping drive the activities and project work undertaken by the Finance Joint Service Delivery Team, collating information from colleagues across both institutions and NHS institutions. representing the School in financial fora at both universities as required, acting as the key finance contact and liaising with relevant central finance departments at both institutions ensuring all school processes remain compliant and in line with best practice. setting up new School level processes and procedures driving continuous improvement of processes within your remit and ensure any changes are effectively implemented. To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate: a recognised accountancy qualification (eg. ACCA, CIMA) or part-qualified and studying towards, or equivalent the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders with excellent influencing and interpersonal skills experience of managing complex funding and financial regimes and scenarios experience of staff management and managing teams including setting objectives, monitoring performance, motivating and developing staff the ability to analyse, problem solve and make autonomous judgements, providing solutions working within financial rules and regulations The role will be based across KMMS facilities both on the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church Campuses in Canterbury.
