We have a great opportunity to join the education team at HMYOI Cookham Wood as a Landscaping and Horticulture Teacher offered on a Permanent, full-time basis working 37 hours per week. What the role entails As a Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, learner-focused vocational training. We are looking to recruit a teacher experienced Industrial Cleaning. Teaching experience is not essential, but we are looking for enthusiasm, drive and commitment to working in a prison environment. What we need from you Training and Education: Deliver high-quality training sessions to young people in landscaping and horticulture. Help them develop essential skills and knowledge in plant care, landscape design, and maintenance. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development of a robust curriculum that aligns with industry standards and offers practical, hands-on experience. Tailor training to meet the unique needs of our students. Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to young learners, fostering their personal and professional growth. Help them build confidence and resilience. Safety: Prioritise safety by teaching proper handling of tools and equipment. Ensure that all activities adhere to security/health and safety regulations. Progress Tracking: Monitor and assess student progress regularly. Provide feedback and guidance to help learners achieve their goals and qualifications. Industry Updates: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Incorporate the latest advancements into your training. Ideally, you will want to be a part of a team who has at its core a focus on improving lives and enabling and equipping learners to develop, grow and be equipped for a life of work and success. You’ll be a self-starter with a passion to learn and grow yourself and will bring passion, dedication and positivity to your new role. Qualifications and Skills Relevant qualifications in landscaping and horticulture. Teaching or training experience is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for working with young people and a commitment to their rehabilitation. Ability to motivate and inspire students. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
