About the role What you need to know: We are seeking a legally qualified professional to support the global Trade Finance and Trade Credit businesses in relation to underwriting strategic activities. We can offer the role on a full time or part-time (27 hours) basis. Responsibilities: Providing legal assistance on transactional issues arising from new and existing renewal transactions from origination to execution for all Trade Finance and Trade Credit products including: assisting in the drafting and review of policy, endorsement and related documents and review of underlying documents, legal opinions and other relevant documentation; assisting in the negotiation of transaction and policy documents with interested parties; preparing concise transaction summaries/memos for onwards distribution to AIG senior management/risk; and ensuring timely execution of transactions and compliant signing of legal documentation for insurance-backed transactions globally in support of the global Trade Finance and Trade Credit businesses; Liaising with and supporting AIG Group Legal Compliance & Regulatory in the sourcing and delivery of advice relating to a range of legal and regulatory matters, including to facilitate new product development and policy template generation and to monitor, review, and interpret developments in Insurance law in both England and Wales and New York (and other applicable jurisdictions); Contributing and maintaining a key role in the strategic development and creation of organizational processes and pipeline business origination to enable the global Trade Finance and Trade Credit businesses to scale efficiently and prudently; Supporting training to the global Trade Finance and Trade Credit businesses; Assisting in the generation of presentation material/handouts and other reporting for internal and external meetings; and Creating and maintaining good relationships with key internal stakeholders (Risk, Tax, Accounting, Finance, HR, Claims, New Product, Legal, Compliance etc.). What we’re looking for: A legally qualified professional (NY or English law qualified) ideally with private practice and/or in-house experience. Experience in drafting, structuring and negotiating trade finance/banking/ structured finance documentation. Experience in drafting insurance policy documentation and knowledge of the Insurance Act 2015 and other insurance policy considerations. Working knowledge of Basel/CRD rules on capital efficient risk mitigants. Track record in finding simple commercial solutions meeting client needs that are legally compliant and risk-prudent. Highly organised with first rate communication skills and project management; high level of attention to detail is a must. Strong experience in strategic organisational thinking and processes. Strong attention to detail and ability to digest information into to concise messaging. Conscientious and diligent, able to manage time pressure and adhere to deadlines. Interpersonal skills, team player, collegiate mindset and global cultural awareness.
