BAT IS LOOKING FOR A Management Accountant FUNCTION: Finance GRADE: G34 LOCATION: Southampton TYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed Term – 1 year Context: GLP’s financial accounts draw information from tens of thousands of transactions a year from various systems and sources of inputs, with responsibilities and requirements for different elements of the accounts residing with numerous internal and external parties around the globe. It is the jobholder’s responsibility to manage the ongoing maintenance of the accounts to ensure all of these elements are accurately and consistently treated, and any issues arising are resolved so they do not impact accounting integrity or reporting deadlines. The financial analyses required by the Global Leaf team provides commercial awareness for all decisions taken and enables optimum financial management of the Global leaf stocks and assets for the Group. To achieve all the above the jobholder will need to fully understand the business and be proactive in their approach. Purpose: Oversee monthly close process including the preparation of journals and review of financial statements and reconciliations Preparation of forecasts/budgets followed by detailed analysis Business partner to supply chain operations teams Preparation of SOx controls at key reporting periods Provision of effective financial analysis on the monthly logistics spend of the Company What you will be accountable for: Monthly accounts close: Responsible for co-ordination of monthly close between GLP, GBS (BAT finance shared service centre) and other parties involved; preparation of monthly accounting entries and reports; review of accounting entries and review and approval of monthly reconciliations prepared by GBS Performance of cost forecasts and budgets with preparation of detailed financial analysis Cash flow forecasting of supplier payments with upload to internal cash forecasting tool Monthly spend analysis and presentation to Finance Manager in monthly P&L review meetings Business partnering to supply chain operations including support with projections/calculations where necessary Performance of SOx controls at key reporting periods to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements Finance contact for GBS, 3rd party logistics service provider & intermediary warehouse providers Finance contact for all leaf suppliers and customers, for finance related queries Co-ordination and attendance of European stock counts annually with external auditors Management of leaf costing and pricing inputs to SAP to ensure accuracy of financial data and records Provision of information to support internal and external audits User of SAP, assisting to resolve system-related issues. Wider finance systems change support, including testing ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Part-qualified professional qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) Ability to drive improved controls in core accounting areas. Reviewing processes involved in AR, AP and GL maintenance, identifying weaknesses and working with related parties to implement new controls and processes. Experience of managing processes with external and internal stakeholders, able to understand their processes to maximise efficient and effective working relationships. Ensuring the accuracy of the financial records relying on such processes. Able to work as a key team member within a global function, prioritizing workload to ensure individual and cross-functional deadlines are met.
