Mine OperativeAt British Gypsum we are looking for a Mine Operative to work in our multi-disciplinary production team.Your role will be critical in ensuring production targets are met, meaning an overall positive experience for our customers.This role will potentially operate a Monday – Friday, 3-shift staggered pattern, which includes days, afternoons, and nightsThe Mine Operative will be a part of a safety focused, highly skilled production team based out of Fauld Mine, Burton on Trent. The Mine Operative will be in a team of 38 in total, 20 Mining Operatives and a wider team consisting of Crafts team, Maintenance Engineers, and Management teams. The Mine Operative will be an integral member of the Mine Production team & operate front line production machinery and will be tasked with undertaking duties and responsibilities in a safe and economic manner in compliance with mining legislation, company policy and Managers Rules. Providing plaster, plasterboard, dry lining and ceiling solutions which shape modern interiors for the residential, commercial, and off-site sectors of the construction industryWhat we are looking for:· Experience operating heavy plant machinery within an industrial, agricultural, or farming environment would be beneficial· Adaptability, analytical and common sense; this is a highly hazardous environment, so pro-activity towards health and safety is a must-have· Experience in underground mining environment or operator/driver of heavy plant· A basic mechanical aptitude· Can identify problems & effectively resolve problems in safe manner· Openness to working underground on a shift patternWhat you will be doing:· You will be accountable for your own and your colleagues’ health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is conducted to the highest possible standard.· The Mine Operative will operate front line production machinery which includes mechanized cutting / loading machines, rock transportation machinery and shovel loaders· Ensure all tasks undertaken are properly risk assessed and documented· Operate a variety of underground equipment including face drills, tele handlers, mechanical scaler and LHD’s· General mining, operating shuttle car and haulage machines, scoop machines, continuous mining machines, installing ventilation tube, drilling roof test holes· Perform autonomous routine maintenance for mobile and fix equipment both underground and at surface (greasing, conveyor operations, belt cleaning/rollers changeAre British Gypsum and Saint-Gobain inclusive employers?Saint-Gobain is the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction improving daily life through high-performance solutions.
