Job description

The role is part of a small team involved in the harvesting and/or packing of Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms. Unlike other picking work, these are all year round permanent positions we offer after a successful induction training period. We service leading supermarkets with exotic mushrooms. Daily routines involve hand selection of mushrooms trimmed into trays ready for further grading and packing on site. This is not difficult work, but dexterity and good hand eye coordination is an advantage. This work is indoors in environmentally controlled growing rooms all year round. We are a family based business with a friendly approach. We also pack and distribute with a team of around 60 employees. Due to increased growth in the demand for our product, we are open to applicants willing to learn new skills and take on tasks. Basic Hours are 39. Typically this is 5 days between 8.00am and 4.30pm Mon to Sat with a fixed day off in the week. Extra hours are available, and paid at overtime, and we operate a shorter day on Sundays paid at the overtime rate for full time workers. Basic hours are currently paid at £10.62 p/hour. Over 8 hours and over 39 hours are paid at an overtime rate of £15.93 Ideally we like a bit of flexibility as we can run on an extra hour at busy times. Pay is by bank transfer fortnightly.
