We’re looking for a PR Officer to join our small, friendly team and deliver high-quality, compelling written content and media coverage to attract and influence new and existing audiences in the UK and around the world. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of Middlesex University’s new Strategy for 2031, helping to grow the University’s external reputation and engagement. Based in the Communications & Engagement team and reporting to the PR Manager, your work will help deliver the University’s 2031 strategy. Through a triple focus on Education, Research and Engagement, Middlesex University brings knowledge into action. With campuses in Hendon, North London, and around the world, the University has an international reputation for driving equity in health, inclusive socioeconomic development, enriching lives through culture, and supporting sustainability. Middlesex is a global family that is caring, action-oriented, purposeful and inclusive. A busy and varied role, you will work closely with PR, Policy and Public Affairs, Content and Social Media colleagues to plan communications. You will create timely and coordinated content to raise our profile across media, policy, internal, student and stakeholder audiences. Experience in higher education and/or international policy, photography and videography would be an asset though not essential. You will be an excellent communicator, with the skills to write and pitch great features, news stories and blogs to audiences in the UK and around the world; manage media requests and interviews and work alongside colleagues to build our social media presence and wider reputation. You will be highly motivated and proactive with a strong news sense. We’re looking for someone with energy and confidence, ideas and influencing skills. You will be able to work to tight deadlines and prioritise your work. You will have proven ability to produce innovative and engaging content beyond a press release. You will build and maintain strong networks of internal and external stakeholders.
