About The Mare and Foal Sanctuary The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is the largest equine welfare charity in the South West peninsula dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of horses and ponies who have suffered neglect, abuse and trauma. We also deliver a range of Equine Assisted Services with our rescued horses and ponies. The Mare and Foal Sanctuary has five sites across Devon, a clear five-year strategy and is ambitious for the future. About the Role We are recruiting for a Sanctuary Manager for our Honeysuckle and Beech Trees Sanctuaries in Newton Abbot. This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role that also includes flexible out-of-hours coverage. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will reside in our on-site live-in accommodation. Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and you will be required to provide proof of your right to work in the UK. Salary Range: F1 £27,612 – F3 £29,313 What You’ll Be Doing Caring for Equines as a Sanctuary Manager, – you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the health, wellbeing, and training of our incredible horses at two neighbouring sanctuaries. Leading a Dedicated Team – you will lead and manage our caring and passionate Sanctuary care team, fostering a positive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Land Management – you will be responsible, in collaboration with the estates team, for the land management of both sanctuaries. Creating a Safe Haven – your role extends beyond the equines. You’ll maintain a safe space for our team, volunteers and visitors, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and secure. Making a Difference By collaborating with our senior managers, you’ll contribute to the bigger picture of animal welfare and enhance the reputation of the Mare and Foal Sanctuary. What you will bring: Equine Expertise You have a solid understanding of equine care, health, and behaviour. Whether you’re a BHS Stage 4 Senior Yard Manager or have equivalent hands-on experience, we want your insight! Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
