Job Introduction Contract: Permanent Salary: Competitive + Uplift Working hours: Shift Pattern: Days/night 7-3, 7-4 (45hrs base contract) Job location: North Acton: Victoria Road/Atlas Road/OOC Station Job Category: Operations Organisation: Area Central Business Unit: Tunnelling Skillset: Sprayed Concrete Lining, Waterproofing, RC secondary lining. Role: Shift Manager for SCS Area Central Tunnelling – Old Oak Common SCL tunnels Responsible for the SCL works on site, taking a significant role in delivery as well as managing aspects of time, cost and quality. Will acquire technical (engineering/tunnelling), leadership and project management skills and experience. Experience gained on major civil engineering projects preferred, including: SCL, waterproofing and RC secondary lining. Flexible working: We welcome you to ask about the flexibility you need. Main Responsibilities Provide strategic guidance based on personal knowledge and experience of similar projects to inform and direct project and programme. Identify risk and opportunity, advise the Sub Agent(s) and Agent appropriately. Be conversant with all drawings, specifications and related information for the works under their control and ensure a similar understanding within the team. Check excavation and sprayed profiles are within tolerance, communicate in the SRG when they are not and coach the shift engineers to improve profiles. Work with the Site/Shift Engineers and Survey team to ensure all setting-out and quality control procedures are performed in a timely and efficient manner, so as not to impede the construction programme. Develop a 28-day programme to benchmark productivity measures for the workforce. Assess actual programme and productivity achieved for review at weekly progress meetings. This should include resource requirements. Communicate with works managers, foremen, gangers, operatives, and sub-contractors to ensure full understanding of information provided. Prepare and periodically review the Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Plans and Procedures for the construction works and ensure that the work is being carried out as specified. Work with the construction and quality teams to complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s) for the control of the works ensuring that all necessary documentation and checksheets are produced in a timely manner. Review and sign off completed checksheets on Zutec. Communicate to the QA and Engineering teams’ non-conformances, and any instructions received from the client / designer / RE’s staff. Raise NCR’s on Zutec as required. Ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained. Procurement of Plant, Materials and Equipment required for each site through Requisitions reviewed by the Sub Agent(s) and Agent. Review the Shift Engineers daily site diary to ensure it is complete and accurate. Complete and issue the shift handover for the next 12hrs work. This handover is to be an accurate account of the works and, as known any planned works or interfaces for the next 24hrs and working week. Co-ordinate with other site teams and foreman as well as chair the tri-weekly supervisor meeting to capture all relevant information Attend the daily Shift Review Group (SRG) meeting and provide an accurate account of the works for the past 24hrs and planned works for the next 24hrs. Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the Client and within the team promote an aim to exceed Client expectations. Ensure the works are conducted in accordance with the project requirements including health and safety, where this is not observed reporting the non-conformance to the lead miner, pit boss, Sub Agent or other supervisor. Ensuring unsafe acts are recorded in the proforma email and issued to the team, witness statements are taken and relevant steps taken to secure or control the area. Be fully conversant with the site and works Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP). Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project. The Ideal Candidate CSCS card. Engineering Degree / HNC or similar in a construction discipline. IOSH or SMSTS desired, SSSTS minimum. Tunnel Safety Training Scheme (TSTS). Extensive experience with SCL/Waterproofing/RC construction techniques Temporary Works Supervisor desired. About The Company The role will work on the HS2 project. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
