Your work includes large, complex projects that may be multi-department, cross-functional, and multi-country in nature. How you will contribute You will provide technical direction and leadership—which includes training and mentoring junior team members—in the laboratory to ensure that complex projects are completed on time and with the appropriate analytical and regulatory standards. In this role, you will review and approve scientific reports, method development and validations, authorize competencies in your area of expertise and independently perform complex method development and design validations protocols. In addition, you will maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, ensure a clean, tidy and safe working environment, and perform and approve risk assessments. Excellent communication skills will be required of you because you will write technical reports, check data, offer interpretations of results and interact with internal and external holders using influencing and presentation skills to present project proposals and results. The job holder will work with the chocolate category to ensure efficient rapid turnaround testing of Pilot Plant samples. The job holder will play a key role in ensuring that all analytical work is performed and supervised effectively and accurately within agreed timescales and to appropriate quality standards. This role will involve training junior members of the team, being the local client contact and providing laboratory management. The role will involve measuring the physio-chemical analysis of products and their intermediates including techniques such as such as texture analysis, rheological testing, particle sizing, solid fat content, moisture analysis, density measurements, differential scanning colorimetry and basic microscopy analysis. The job holder will be required to report work in accordance with the Mondelēz quality standards. What extra ingredients you will bring: Technical Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results. Provide technical direction and people management for the team. Perform a range of analysis including texture analysis, rheological testing, particle sizing, solid fat content, moisture analysis, density measurements, differential scanning colorimetry, and basic microscopy analysis, independently. Perform method development in consultation with colleagues at the analytical hub sites. Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment. Perform data checking and provide interpretation of results for testing. Generate certificate analysis or external interpretive reports. Expert user of specific software and proficient in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role. Provide training and manage junior staff in routine activities and methods and interpretation. Take responsibility for elements of specific projects and/or specific areas of general laboratory/sample administration and assign housekeeping tasks as required. Communicate with / leverage on our analytical technical specialists based in our East Hanover and/or Reading sites for any technical advice/support . Communication & Influence Lead an efficient analytical team at site level and work as part of an efficient analytical team globally. To liase with clients, analytical technical specialists in East Hanover and/or Reading and line management to ensure effective communication of project proposals and results. Participate in client and stakeholder meeting s. Deliver internal presentations across groups and to technical stakeholders. Manage small and large projects. Leadership and supervision Plan workload and routine projects for yourself and junior staff. Train junior members of the team. Locally lead a team of scientists. QEHS Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed. Complete assigned quality actions in a timely manner, including review and approval. Write and approve SOPs and Test Methods . Generate and approve Risk Assesments and COSHH . Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment. Own the analytical train the trainer programme for Bournville R&D and ensure training records are accurate and up to date.
