Shift O&M Technician Location(s): Little Barford, CAM, GB, PE19 6YT Shift O&M Technician Location – Little Barford Power Station, UK Contract Type – Permanent Working Hours – Full Time Closing Date – 01 September 2023 Main Purpose of Job: As a member of the Station Operations and Maintenance Team, you will contribute towards delivering on the day to day Operational and Maintenance requirements. To maximize the safe, reliable and commercial performance of the power station you will be responsible for operating the plant both locally and from the control room, and carrying out plant operational routines in line with our procedures, this will include fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery. You will be expected to perform operational duties on a shift basis as required. You will collaborate with Engineering & Outage teams, supporting plant shutdowns and recommissioning as required. As the trend towards increasing volumes of renewable generation continues, you should expect maintenance routines to form an increasing part of your core role. Principal Accountabilities: Health, Safety and environment compliance Ensure safe Operational practices are implemented. Support targets and initiatives relating to health, safety, wellbeing and environment. Operate plant in accordance with recognised station standards Achieve accredited Operator Status. Actively seek to gain and apply new skills. Provide Safety from System-derived hazards Develop and carrying out the duties of the Safety Controller under RWE Generation UK Safety Rules. Maintenance activities Develop maintenance skills in order to undertake maintenance during your shift. This will take the form of a variety of routine tasks and disciplines and more complex undertakings as your skills develop. Emergency Response Take part in incident response training and site based exercises which test procedures and competence. Outage support Work in multi-disciplinary teams to plan and delivery safe and efficient outages. Commission and return the plant to service in a structured and safe way. Knowledge and Skills: Have a recognised engineering or operations background or craft skill in an electrical, mechanical or C & I discipline. HNC or ONC or equivalent. Competent in all aspects of power plant operation and or maintenance Have strong interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of applicable business IT systems such as Microsoft Office and have previous experience of a Maintenance Management System Be a self-motivated, flexible individual able to work with the minimum of supervision, whilst being capable of providing support to the Team. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives Values and behaviours – Role modelling the RWE desired behaviours. This will mean working with the others in an open, honest and consistent way and in a manner that demonstrably puts the needs of the station ahead of individual departmental or personal objectives. You should be demonstrably working as part of a cohesive shift team, engendering a sense of team spirit. Possess excellent knowledge on power generation safety management systems including system Safety Rules. Flexible and agile in their approach to supporting the Station and Portfolio through flexible working hours and application of skills. Ability and flexibility to retrain and to take on new skill sets.
