Job description
Following an internal service re-design we are looking to recruit into an interesting new position within the acute SLT service. Our new SLTA will have a varied job role supporting the acute SLT team with a number of different administrative and clinical tasks including gathering background information, liaising with community services and completing face to face therapy programmes and assessment activities designed by the SLT team. You will be joining 2 further SLTA’s within the service working in Neuro and Head and Neck Cancer as well as an experienced and friendly SLT team and our amazing administrator. We are looking for someone with a passion for people and an interest in the role of the Speech and Language Therapist. The nature of working in an acute hospital environment means that every day is different with new learning opportunities. You will be supporting our team to support our patients with a variety of communication and swallowing difficulties. This may be through direct provision of therapy programmes, gathering background information or collating discharge paperwork to ensure that our care is well informed and smoothly transferred to community services. To be able to provide and receive information using tact, sensitivity and diplomacy. g. when treating patients. To carry out treatment interventions, evaluating results and communicating progress or outcome with qualified therapy To consider patients understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have capacity to work within legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to To have knowledge and understanding of the different communication disorders e.g. dysarthria, dyspraxia and To provide information on supportive agencies that are available for patients to maximize recovery For full job role information including person spec please see attached job description.Jobs Advertisement
