Salary range: £36,024 - £44,263 FTE: 1.0 (35 hours per week) Term: Open Closing date: 1 October 2023 The University of Strathclyde’s institution-wide entrepreneurship strategy, Strathclyde Inspire, is transforming how we support and encourage entrepreneurial people and ventures. Central to the successful delivery of the strategic goals is the provision of support for new start-up opportunities emerging from the student, staff and alumni communities. This support is provided by the Strathclyde Inspire Start-Up Team based in the Innovation & Industry Engagement (IIE) Directorate. The Start-Up Advisor will utilise their positive and can-do approach to develop and support a growing pipeline of early-stage student (undergraduate, MSc and PhD) and alumni entrepreneurs. They will spend the majority of their time working with clients on a one-to-one basis (reviewing business plans, supporting the development of competition applications and pitch decks, signposting to appropriate ecosystem partners and working collaboratively with the Ecosystem Development Team to access expert mentoring from the Strathclyde Inspire Supporters network), supporting their development as they progress through the company formation process. The post holder will also manage a range of support interventions including regular start-up bootcamps, an annual innovation challenge, a grant-funding scheme, as well as the recently launched Founder Fellowships programme which offers paid summer internships to emerging entrepreneurs. They will oversee all related administrative, content and budgetary requirements The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who can use their own passion for entrepreneurship to engage, inspire and support our entrepreneurs in both a group and one-to-one setting. The post holder will be both process-driven and entrepreneurially minded, possessing an in-depth knowledge of the company formation process and the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Scotland.
