Contract: Permanent, full time (part time considered) Salary: £27,954 - £32,954 (including London Weighting Allowance of £3,954) Location: Merton animal hospital, London SW19 1BD Closing date: Sunday 20 August 2023 Interview dates: We intend to interview as suitable candidates apply We’re recruiting a Veterinary Nurse to join our fabulous team of dedicated, talented, and outstanding veterinary professionals at our animal hospital in SW London, helping to deliver excellent nursing care for a wide range of small animals, providing both routine healthcare and a large number of emergencies which provides our team excellent opportunities to develop ECC skills. More about the role Our animal hospital in Merton has a hub design providing easy access between six consultation rooms, two dedicated operating theatres, a dental suite, imaging room and species-specific kennels that provides free or discounted vet care to pets whose owners receive certain means-tested benefits and live within the catchment area. This is a fast-paced environment where our nurses have a lot of autonomy and scope to develop their skills and we have several nurse certificate-holders working in our team. Your responsibilities will include duties such as: Monitoring and administering treatments to patients in kennels and maintaining records. Radiography Maintaining anaesthesia and surgically assisting the veterinary surgeon in theatre Preparing samples in the laboratory for postage and performing some routine laboratory tests Providing great customer service and an experience inductive of maximising donations and promoting a positive and productive Blue Cross experience. Provision of nurse clinics to include vaccination clinics and education of the general public with regard to pet welfare Weekend shifts are approximately 1:6 for full time staff and we cover around 1-2 bank holidays per year at our Victoria hospital where you can put your emergency and ward nursing skills to good practice. Very occasionally, where cover may be needed, our nurses cover weekday shifts at our Victoria or Hammersmith hospitals About you As an integral team member, the ability to work as part of a team and effective communication skills are really important, often you will be the first point of our clients, forming strong bonds with them to ensure improved animal health and welfare. It goes without saying the Veterinary Nurse role is rewarding and provides lots of opportunities for job satisfaction and happy outcomes but there are often times of sadness, so it is important you have the resilience and ability to adapt to different situations. Knowledge, skills, and experience Fully qualified Veterinary Nurse Registered with RCVS Confident in all aspects of veterinary nursing Demonstrable customer service skills The ability to demonstrate, understanding and apply our Blue Cross values.
