Look no further than County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service! We are a specialist young people’s drug and alcohol service. We work with young people across County Durham aged 10-19 and up to 24 who need specialist support around drug and alcohol use. As a Young Peoples Worker, you will be a vital member of our team, delivering structured, evidence based interventions with the aim of supporting and empowering individuals, and diverting them away from substance use with the overall aim of improving their life outcomes based on their need. Based in Central Durham City and working primarily with teenagers who are using drugs or alcohol; reducing the harm of substance use to the individual, family and wider community. To provide holistic support to children, young people and families as part of the wider County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service, including assessments, care plans, PSI delivery, structured family interventions and partnership working. Duties Include: Identify and engage with Young People vulnerable to exploitation or at risk of repeat offending. Promote visible recovery across the service and ensure peer support opportunities are relevant and accessible as required. Reduce substance related harm to the individual and wider community. Who are we looking for? Experience of working with young people, and managing a caseload of service users is desirable, as is the ability to work with vulnerable individuals with multiple needs. Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues, as well as the ability to implement and monitor risk assessments and maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries is also essential. You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Outlook Office programmes and have excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing.
